🌕🙏 Ekadashi Shraddha 2025 – A Day of Ancestral Reverence & Spiritual Awakening 🪔


Ekadashi Shraddha is observed on the 11th lunar day (Ekadashi) to perform Shraddha—rituals in honour of our ancestors. It’s a sacred time to reflect, express gratitude, and seek blessings for the peace and wellbeing of departed souls. On 17 September 2025 (Wednesday), Hindus will observe this spiritual festival with prayers, offerings, fasting and remembrance. 

 

  • In Vedic astrology, the Ekadashi Tithi is considered highly potent for ancestral worship. The energies between the physical world and the ancestral realm are believed to align more strongly during this time. 
  • On this day, strong influence of Moon and Jupiter is expected. This conjunction increases the spiritual vibrations in the universe, enhancing the efficacy of prayers, offerings and Shraddha rituals. 
  • Performing rituals at the correct times (as per local Panchang) is especially important—do holy bath (snan), chant mantras, offer pind daan (offerings to ancestors) and water or sesame seeds. These acts are said to reduce negative effects of unfavorable planetary positions and bring peace, harmony & prosperity. 

 

  • Begin the day with purifying bath & prayer
  • Fast (abstain from grains / certain foods) to purify body & mind
  • Offerings: water, sesame seeds, food (pind daan), prayers for departed ancestors
  • Mantras like Maha Mrityunjaya & Gayatri are chanted to invoke blessings and protection for the family. 
  • Many now use digital platforms to include distant family & ensure collective participation despite separation.
